What are the pros and cons of radar level sensor?
Advantages of Radar level sensor:
- Radar level sensor has very strong penetrating power and is almost not affected by the measurement medium.
- The radar level gauge can directly reach the surface of the measurement medium through surface impurities such as dust, steam, foam, and attachments.
- Radar level sensor is not affected by the shape of the tank, and can measure liquid level regardless of whether it is spherical, cylindrical, horizontal, etc.
- High accuracy and small blind zone: Sino-Inst’s Radar level sensor has a measurement accuracy of up to +1mm.
- The smaller beam angle makes the radar signal more focused. It is suitable for measurement in various spaces. The extremely small beam angle can successfully avoid various obstacles and achieve accurate measurement.
- The measurement range is larger. The longest is up to 120 meters. And the signal will hardly weaken as the range increases.
- Maintenance is simple and requires almost no repairs. Radar level sensor has fault alarm and self-diagnosis functions, and can perform fault analysis based on the error code of the display module. Regular fault elimination makes maintenance and correction more convenient and accurate.
Disadvantages of Radar level sensor:
- Radar level sensors usually need to be connected to power;
- Radar level sensors are generally more expensive than other level sensors; of course, our TSL300 series radar level sensors can have a lower cost!
- The installation method is limited to top installation.
Radar level sensor uses radar technology for non-contact continuous liquid level measurement. Radar level indicators convert liquid level into an electrical signal. The level signal output can then be used by other instruments for monitoring or control. Liquids and solids are commonly measured using this measurement technique, for example: fly ash silos.
