Magnetic Level Gauge With Float

Magnetic Level Gauge With Float

The Magnetic Float Level Gauge with Float uses a float as the measuring element. A set of pulleys and a steel wire indirectly indicates the level of the measured medium in open or low-pressure containers. Suitable for measuring the liquid level in corrosive media tanks, containers, oil tanks, oil fields, oil depots, and other industrial oil tanks with flat bottoms, conical covers, and domed roofs in petrochemical storage systems, as well as water towers (tanks) in general enterprises and civil buildings. This solved the problems of measuring the liquid level in storage tanks and the difficulty of manually filling the tank with a steel ruler.

Features

  • Particularly suitable for applications involving large measurement ranges, highly corrosive or high-viscosity media, and situations where precise measurement is not required.
  • Ideal for liquid level measurement in large storage tanks within petrochemical systems, especially for high-viscosity media such as heavy oil, tar, crude oil, and resins.
  • When side openings are impractical or surrounding space is limited, this level gauge can be installed at the top or bottom of the container.
  • The viewing direction of the display can be freely adjusted.
  • Level switch transmitters and control switches can be retrofitted without requiring shutdown for installation or adjustment.
  • Accuracy remains unaffected even during power interruptions, ensuring reliable operation.

Structure

The Magnetic Level Gauge With Float consists of five parts: a float, connecting wire, guide pulley, counterweight pointer, and display scale.

  1. Float

The float is welded together from two hollow stainless steel (non-metallic) cone-shaped rings and one hollow stainless steel (non-metallic) cylinder-shaped ring. Guide rings are welded to both sides of the float for guidance. The float’s function is to directly transfer the buoyancy of the liquid level change to the steel wire, which then transmits the liquid level change to the counterweight pointer, achieving on-site indication of the liquid level change.

  1. Connecting Steel Wire

One end of the connecting steel wire suspends the float, and the other end connects to the counterweight pointer. The middle part is enclosed within a steel tube.

  1. Guide Pulley

The guide pulley of the Magnetic Level Gauge With Float is designed according to the geometry of the liquid level tank and the installation requirements of the level gauge. It consists of two parts: the connecting steel wire, the guide pulley, and the housing. Its main function is to guide the connecting steel wire, reducing the resistance to system rotation.

  1. Weighted Pointer

The weighted pointer is made of A3F steel with a pointer-like shape in the center. The value indicated by the pointer on the scale is the measured liquid level. It moves synchronously with the float and the connecting steel belt.

  1. Display Scale

The magnetic level gauge display scale is made of LY11 alloy molybdenum, with standard values engraved on the surface. It is in centimeters, with each section being 1 meter high.

Magnetic Level Gauge With Float Working Principle

Magnetic Level Gauge With Float Working Principle

The float level gauge is designed based on the principle of force balance. When the liquid level in the tank is at a certain position, the weight W of the float, the weight W1 of the weighted pointer, the buoyancy F of the float immersed in the liquid, and the frictional force f in the entire system are in equilibrium (i.e., W-F-W1-f=0).

When the liquid level rises, the float, suspended by the steel wire, is lifted along the guide wire. The buoyancy F increases, causing the original equilibrium of the four forces in the system to be disrupted. Under the influence of gravity, the plumb bob pointer slides downwards, continuously indicating the rise in liquid level on the scale.

Similarly, as the liquid level drops, the buoyancy F of the float decreases, causing the steel wire to descend synchronously with the liquid level. Since the weight of the float is greater than the weight of the plumb bob pointer, the pointer moves upwards. Likewise, as the liquid level continuously changes, the plumb bob pointer continuously indicates the drop in liquid level. This achieves the purpose of accurately measuring changes in liquid level.
