It can be battery powered, requiring no external power supply for on-site display. It features fully isolated output, strong anti-interference capabilities, and shields against all interference. It can output pulse, current (4-20mA), and 485 (Modbus-RTU) signals (in which case an external power supply is required). It has built-in temperature and pressure sensors, and automatic temperature and pressure compensation for gas and steam.

Functions of 9051 Multivariable Transmitter

The 9051 Multivariable Transmitter’s built-in intelligent flow totalizer utilizes a low-power microcontroller (power consumption <= 300uA) design, offering 2-3 years of use in dual power supply modes (24VDC/built-in lithium battery) or independent lithium battery power supply mode.

The built-in flow totalizer features a large LCD screen displaying 6 digits of instantaneous flow rate, accurate to 2 decimal places (0~9999.99 m³/h) or 1 decimal place (0~99999.9 m³/h). Cumulative flow rate can be displayed as 9 digits, accurate to 4 decimal places (0~99999.9999 m³) or 5 decimal places (0~9999.99999 m³).

Display & Output Modes

The 9051 Multivariable Transmitter’s built-in flow totalizer displays instantaneous and cumulative flow, as well as temperature and pressure simultaneously. It offers three output modes:

  1. Three-wire pulse remote transmission output (optional);
  2. Two-wire current output (optional);
  3. Four-wire RS485 output (optional).

What is a Multivariable Transmitter?

A multivariable transmitter, also known as a multi-parameter transmitter, is an intelligent measuring device that integrates differential pressure, static pressure, and temperature sensing technologies with microprocessor technology. It can simultaneously measure differential pressure, static pressure, and process temperature, and achieve flow compensation through built-in calculations, directly outputting mass or volumetric flow rate.

This device can replace the traditional combination of differential pressure, pressure, and temperature transmitters and a flow totalizer, and can be directly used with various differential pressure throttling devices such as orifice plates, V-cones, and Annubar. It supports multiple communication protocols such as HART and Modbus, and features high accuracy, a wide range ratio, automatic temperature and pressure compensation, with some models supporting battery power and wireless remote transmission.

Working Principle of a Multivariable Transmitter

The composite single-crystal silicon sensor in multivariable flow transmitter technology can simultaneously measure differential pressure, pressure, and temperature, and input the measurement results into a flow computer, which, along with flow calculation software, calculates the mass flow rate of the medium.

A multi-variable transmitter and a throttling device are assembled into a differential pressure flow meter, which can simultaneously measure the temperature, pressure, density, instantaneous flow rate, and cumulative flow rate of a medium. Users can select multiple output values.

Multi-parameter flow transmitters utilize static pressure compensation technology. The accuracy of intelligent pressure transmitters is affected by temperature drift and static pressure. Currently, ordinary single-sensor intelligent temperature compensation improves accuracy but cannot eliminate the influence of high static pressure on differential pressure measurement. Single-crystal silicon composite sensors inherently possess pressure measurement capabilities, compensating for the influence of pipeline static pressure on differential pressure measurement, thereby improving flow measurement accuracy.

Multi-parameter differential pressure flow meter

Multi-parameter differential pressure flowmeters can be constructed by configuring a multivariable transmitter and a differential pressure throttling element. These flowmeters include all differential pressure flowmeter types such as multi-parameter V-cone flowmeters, multi-parameter orifice plate flowmeters, multi-parameter elbow flowmeters, multi-parameter nozzle flowmeters, multi-parameter venturi flowmeters, multi-parameter Annubar flowmeters, multi-parameter Vibar flowmeters, multi-parameter Pitot tube flowmeters, multi-parameter wedge flowmeters, multi-parameter Delta bar flowmeters, and multi-parameter averaging pitot tube flowmeters.

Multi-parameter differential pressure flowmeters have integrated temperature and pressure sensors and can automatically perform temperature and pressure compensation calculations for the measured medium. They simultaneously display parameters such as temperature, pressure, differential pressure, instantaneous flow rate, and cumulative flow rate on-site.
