Submersible Flow Meter Installation

To fully utilize the performance of submersible flow meters, correct installation is crucial. Since these devices are designed for harsh submerged environments, the installation process focuses on protecting data integrity while ensuring the sensor remains constantly submerged in water.

Straight Pipe Requirements

To guarantee the promised 0.5% accuracy, the fluid needs a stable flow rate before reaching the sensor. You cannot directly mount the flow meter next to a pump or at a sharp bend.

  • Upstream: Allow a straight pipe section length of 5 to 10 times the pipe diameter (5D–10D).
  • Downstream: Maintain a straight section of 2 to 5 times the diameter (2D–5D) after the meter.

Handling Flooded and Underground Locations

For pits and manholes that are constantly submerged or prone to flooding, a split-type electromagnetic flow meter design is essential. While the sensor can be fully submerged, the converter (display unit) needs to be easily accessible for maintenance.

  • Sensor Installation Location: The SI-3110 sensor is installed directly in the underwater pipe.
  • Cable Routing: Route the signal cable from the underwater sensor to a safe, dry location or control room.
  • Remote Converter: Mount the remote electromagnetic flow meter display on a wall or panel so your team can easily read the data without entering hazardous areas.

Featured Applications

If your installation location is prone to flooding or is constantly submerged, standard flow meters will not suffice. Our SI-3110 submersible flow meter is designed for the harshest, wettest environments where reliability is paramount. Whether you’re managing municipal infrastructure or heavy industrial production, this submersible electromagnetic flow meter ensures continuous data transmission even when the sensor is submerged in water.

Here are some of the best applications for the SI-3110:

  • Wastewater and Sewage Treatment: This is the ideal sewage flow meter. With an unobstructed flow path and no moving parts, it can handle sludge, suspended solids, and wastewater without clogging or pressure loss.
  • Municipal Water Supply: Underground metering wells are often flooded during heavy rains. Our IP68 rated flow meter sensor can withstand complete submersion, protecting your measurement equipment investment, while the remote transmitter can be safely installed above ground.
  • Industrial Process Monitoring: In harsh, wet industrial environments such as paper mills or chemical plants, this rugged flow meter features custom linings and electrodes to withstand corrosive acids, alkalis, and abrasive slurries.
  • Water Management and Irrigation: For large-scale projects involving reservoirs, river diversions, or agricultural drainage, we offer sizes up to DN3000. This makes it a robust and durable submersible irrigation flow meter for large-scale water management.
