Structure of Portable Ultrasonic Liquid Level Indicator

The Portable Ultrasonic Liquid Level Indicator couples high-frequency ultrasonic pulses generated by its sensor to the outer wall of the container through a couplant, and then receives ultrasonic signals returned from the container wall.

Different media attenuate the received ultrasonic signals differently. The received reflected wave generates an electrical signal. The magnitude of this electrical signal can be displayed by the digital value of the LCD on the panel, and the LED corresponding to the liquid level is lit. Different sensors have different sensitive devices.

When measuring, different containers and different liquids will produce slightly different readings, so this reading is not absolute. But the same thing is that when the sensor is attached to the corresponding inner and outer parts of the container, the reading of the liquid level indicator will change significantly.

In this way, the presence of liquid at a certain height position in the container can be determined by the change of the indicator light on the instrument and the value displayed on the LCD.

Ultrasonic Liquid Level Indicator Working Principle

CO2 cylinder measurement

The CO2 cylinders measured by this meter are divided into the following 4 specifications:

215mm-225mm diameter cylinders,
270mm-280mm diameter cylinders,
345mm-355mm diameter cylinders,
395mm-405mm diameter cylinders.

There are no excessive requirements for the height of the medium and the tank.

  1. Select “co2 cylinder”-“Choose a suitable cylinder diameter” through the menu and enter the measurement interface.
  2. Hold the probe vertically and tightly on the tank, and press the button to measure.
  3. Measurement results are based on measurement parameters and level indicator lights (red is “no liquid”, green is “with liquid”)
  4. Generally, the measurement is started from the bottom of the storage tank (measurement with liquid position).
    If the measurement parameter is> = 2, the current level is considered to be a liquid-free position, and <2 is considered to be a liquid level;
    if it is floating around 2, It is considered that the liquid level of the horizontal plane is approaching the liquid surface (usually about 5 cm).
  5. Take multiple points on the same horizontal plane for measurement, and take the result with the highest probability as the final result (avoid the interference of welds and unknown factors).
  6. Find the liquid level position step by step through the approximation measurement.

Note: Due to the irregular air outlet and a large number of welding kits at the top of the co2 cylinder, the measurement results at the bottom and top are invalid. (The top is generally empty in the case of a full tank).

Normal Tank measurement

  1. The common tank type is divided into 5 conditions (working conditions include: tank type, tank size, wall thickness, medium, etc.).
    Each condition corresponds to the actual measurement object on the site.
    You can select 5 types through the menu.
    Switch between working conditions to facilitate the user’s measurement of multiple working conditions.
  2. The measurement of each working condition must be based on calibration. And calibration must be done at a known “liquid” part.
  3. After the calibration is completed, place the probe vertically close to the tank and press the button to measure.
  4. The measurement results are given with the words “with liquid” and “without liquid” and the level indicator light (red is “without liquid” and green is with “with liquid”).
  5. Take multiple points on the same horizontal plane for measurement, and take the result with the highest probability as the final result (avoid the interference of welds and unknown factors).
  6. Find the liquid level position step by step through the approximation measurement.

  1. When measuring irregular shape tanks, the measurement points must be on the same vertical line as the calibration points.
  2. When the calibration fails (cannot automatically return to the measurement interface after the calibration operation is completed), the operating conditions are not suitable for the use of the instrument.
