How does a reaction torque sensor work?

Static torque sensors usually consist of a pair of elastic elements, strain gauges, circuit boards and signal processors.

The working principle of static torque sensors is based on the strain-stress relationship of materials.

The strain gauge is fixed to the surface of the material being tested. When the material is twisted, the strain gauge will undergo a slight deformation. These tiny deformations cause the resistance of the strain gauge to change, and the amount of change in resistance is proportional to the torque.

Therefore, by measuring the change in resistance, the torque can be calculated. When a torque acts on a shaft, the shaft will deform slightly. These tiny deformations will cause the strain gauge to deform, causing the resistance inside it to change.

The shaft-type torque transducer/reaction torque transducer series has a parallel shaft connection for online direct drive measurement.
